Question following arrival of Citizenship ceremony invitation

Hi. My wife has received her Citizenship ceremony invitation and the local council has booked her ceremony in early December. We were planning on taking a holiday in early January. I understand we have to attend the ceremony within 3 months of receiving this invitation email and my understanding is that, following the ceremony, her current BRP will become null and void. Am I right in thinking then that we only have between early December and early January to apply and receive her first British passport? If so, can the members here share how long it's taking nowadays to receive a first British passport nowadays? It says 3 weeks on the Home Office website but I'm keen to compare that to the experience of members here. Thanks!

You have 3 months to attend the ceremony from date of APPROVAL.

There are many bank holidays over the Christmas period and it is also peak season at the passport office (same as summer). Factor in postal delays over the festive period too.

Suggest attend the ceremony once you return from your trip or postpone your trip.

Passports take anywhere between 3 and 10 weeks.
