British citizenship application - English Knowledge

Good Afternoon,
I am going to apply British Citizenship to my wife and My son (Who born outside UK).
My Wife and My son have got ILR a year ago and applying now British Citizenship.
In evidence List of my Son,
they are asking proof of Parental responsibility for my son and they ask separately Birth Certificate. i assume these are same document.
second question, i have selected my wife's english proof via Digital Certificate but again they are asking certificate to proof. i have already given Reference number that they can check but what document should i attach ?
last question, about below evidence. as i and my wife not British yet, why they are asking this information which i havent fill or say that we are British.
If ....... told us that their parent is a British citizen then you must provide us evidence of their
citizenship. This could include their British passport, a certificate of citizenship or their birth certificate.
