My son was born in the UK while both parents were on Skilled Worker visas. I’m becoming eligible to apply for ILR on August 1, as my original Tier 2 visa start date was 28th August. (I was in the UK before that on an ICT dependant visa.)

My son currently holds Indian citizenship and passport, and is on a Skilled Worker dependent visa, valid until 2026.

A few questions:

• Once I get ILR, can I directly apply for his British citizenship using MN1, or does he need to apply for ILR first?
  
  Can the MN1 application be submitted at the same time as my ILR application, or only after the ILR is granted? I’ve seen conflicting answers on this.
  
  My spouse still has 2 more years before she’ll be eligible for ILR — I assume that doesn’t affect an MN1 application for a UK-born child, right?

Would really appreciate any clarity or personal experiences — trying to plan things properly and avoid delays.

He can apply directly for British citizenship on Form MN1 without having to apply for ILR.

Irrelevant if the child is born in the UK. Would be very relevant if the child were born abroad.
