MN1 Outcome Timelines Not aligned with Parents Application

First of All apologies for the new thread as my previous one is locked and other one has completely different subject compare to what my queries are right now,

I would like some advice regarding the outcome timelines for my son’s MN1 application and how this might affect our future status.

My wife and I applied for citizenship using Form AN, and for my son (who is under 18) I submitted Form MN1. All three applications were submitted online on the same day, and we also completed our biometrics together on the same day.

Today, I received an approval for both my wife and myself, but there has been no update yet on my son’s application. I had assumed that all three of us would receive the decision together.

I have a couple of questions in this regard:

Is it normal for application outcomes to be issued on different dates?

We are planning to book our citizenship ceremony within the next two days (as there is availability) and then apply for our passports immediately. Is it safe to proceed, or should we wait until my son’s application is approved so we can apply for passports together? I understand that no ceremony is required for children under 18.

Any serious consequences if there is any travel on us on British passport and my son on his other passport in case of any urgency before he gets his approval.

In another discussion, I read that parents can include their child on the same Form AN application. Did I make a mistake by submitting my son’s application separately on Form MN1, or was that the correct approach?

Thanks for all the moderators for their support.

Each application is processed individually on its own, regardless of applying together or not.

Also possible ypu get the child's certificate at your ceremony, as happens most often.

Also, passports also processed individually.

Thank you for your prompt response. Normally, wouldn’t we receive an approval email for the child’s application as well. I tried contacting the council to check if they have received my child’s certificate but they are currently closed.

My concern is this, if we proceed with paying for the ceremony and my child’s certificate hasn’t yet been issued, then my wife and I will move ahead with our British passport applications while our child remains on the old passport.

In such a situation, could this cause any issues or complications when we travel together, or lead to any other consequences?

Not at all. Your child isn't British until they receive the certificate, but will retain the current immigration status. No issue in travelling on the old passport with you.

I am assuming your child has their own passport, separate to yours. If that's the case, no issue.

Yes. The child is 14 yrs old and he has his own passport. I just checked with the council and they haven't received the certificate. Hoping to get it directly from the post.

Your child's application may still be processed. Keep an eye on your spam folder and on your mail, and you can follow up if you wait longer than 6 months to recieve the approval/certificate.
