Subject: British Citizenship Application based on ILR - 1 Adult + 8 year Child (born outside UK)

Hi Experts,

Appreciate your advise.

I am applying for British Citizenship two applications as listed below.

1. Adult with 5 year route ILR received in August 2024
Applcation type: Naturalisation as a British Citizen

2. 8 year Child with 5 year route ILR received in August 2024 (born outside UK)
Applcation type: Apply for registration of a child under 18 as a British citizen

Can you please advice if i can submit both applications together at a time or should i wait for adult to get first his british citizenship and then apply for child.

Also, can i add two refferals both as my friends who are tech professionals, same referals for both child and adult.

Thanks and appreciate your time.

You can apply for adults and child at the same time and use the same referees.

What is the UK immigration status of the other/second parent of the child?

What is the UK immigration status of the other/second parent of the child?

Both parents have ILR 5 year route and one parent is applying british citizenship with the child

Then the advice given above by @contorted_svy is sound.

Why is the citizenship application form documents checklist is asking me to tick all boxes to agree before proceeding...

The below checklist item fgor my chils application is being forced to tick although as a parent i do not have british citizen status yet and i am also an applicant.

"If Miss ABC child told us that their parent is a British citizen then you must provide us evidence of their citizenship. This could include their British passport, a certificate of citizenship or their birth certificate."
NOT APPLICABLE (BUT still forced to tick it)

If Miss ABC child told us that their parent is settled in the UK then you must provide us evidence of their settled status. This could include a BRP, a letter from the Home Office, an endorsement in their passport or another document certifying permanent residence.
YES.

Appreciate your response.

Those statements are IF. as you said you are providing evidence for settlement, that is the one which applies to you. The form wants to cater (sometimes clunkily) to many different scenarios.

Thankyou and appreciate all your response. I completed the form and made the payment.

This one is a little odd question, appreciate if you can answer.

I have taken photo graphs for 2X referral forms. Although they are uk passport size the photos are sligthly dark. I am sure these photos are not used for actual passport, May i know if its acceptable for use or should i take new photos.

Regards,
x

Marriage Certificate
Why are you submitting this? Is your spouse British?
Employer letter 2 months old showing annual salary and designation
Annual Council Tax Bills from year - 2020 till 2026
These are NOT required. You ONLY need all your stamped passport pages.
2x referal forms (signed by Tech professionals with Enginnering degree)
You need only ONE professional referee, of any nationality and ONE British referee who is over 25 years of age. Also, simply having a degree is not sufficient, what Engineering degree does a Tech Professional have? They need to be of a profession and registered with the overseeing body, for example an Optometrist who is registered with the General Optical Council or a Civil Engineer who is registered with the appropriate governing professional body.
Can you please confirm if i need to include any other documents like Bank statement, P60/45 and utility bills.
NO!!

Read the guide, it is very clear what is needed. You don't need to make up your own rules and requirements.

In this case I will remove marriage certificate

Employer letter 2 months old showing annual salary and designation
Annual Council Tax Bills from year - 2020 till 2026

These are new passports after renewal which does not include our first entry stamping since 2019. Should i include scanned copy of all pages of old passport as well in this case ?

Both the refferals are software professionals in managerial position working for pvt limited companies

You need the stamped pages of your passport covering the qualifying period.

Yes.

If you have a new and old passport covering this period, then submit scanned copies of both!
