Address for and need to return expired BRP after citizenship?

Sorry if this is not the correct forum and if this has been asked before.

My child recently got registered as British citizen under MN1 route (details shared in this forum earlier). In the atlas email it asks to return BRP and says "Your BRP card should be cut in half and posted (in a windowless plain envelope) to Biometric Product Returns, IFB, 5th floor Lunar House, 40 Wellesley Road, Croydon, CR9 2BY. The postage is not refundable."

Now, I have two questions:
1. Given all BRPs expired in 2024, is it really necessary to return the BRP?
2. The address mentioned above (Lunar House in Croydon) no longer houses home office (who have shifted to 2 Ruskin Square, Croydon CR0 2WF). So, is it even safe / a good idea to post the BRP to this address?

Thanks in advance!

I would actually keep it. As a record of my immigration history.

We have thought about keeping it too. But the email says "You may have to pay a penalty of up to £1,000 if you fail to return an invalid BRP."

You can either keep it, destroy and dispose of it or send the BRP back to UKVI.

If you're concerned about being fined for retaining the BRP, just send it to the address in the link https://www.gov.uk/apply-citizenship-sp ... ertificate
