Help required on referee requirement

Hello,

I have ILR status via spouse settlement. I am looking to apply for British naturalisation, but I am struggling to find a referee that has a professional title.

I have a few questions after reading the requirements shared on the gov website and linked many times here on the forum.

It mentions that the person shouldn't be related to you. Does that include from the spouse side? My brother in law is a teacher who lives in the same household.

It would be good to know if anyone's application was successful using someone related to their spouse.

From my side I have a distant sister in law (wife of a cousin) who is a civil servant. As they are distant would they fall under related? or would this be a grey area or best avoid?

Does this person need to reside in UK?
I am aware of a few people from the country I was born in (Bangladesh) who have titled jobs and can referee and are not related to me.

Any support much appreciated.

Thank you
AJ

You cannot use anyone who is related to you by either blood or through marriage.

The whole idea is that you must have integrated with all walks of life and not restrict yourself to your inner circle. You must have colleague, social friends, neighbours and generally formed part of your society.
It's time for that society to vouch for you.
