Uk Citizenship -Current passport expiry

Hi Moderators,
I have an indian passport due to expire in Jan 2027.
I am planning to apply for british naturalization in October 2026 using my current passport as that was used since 5years immigration.
My query: 1. If I apply for british citizenship then travel to India in Dec and apply for fresh passport , will it affect my current naturalisation application here in UK, if decision is still pending?
2. What are my options in such case as neither I want to miss October date nor I want to be in a state where I might be without a valid passport whilst waiting for a decision.

Thanks for swift reply.
So are we saying I can get a new passport though the passport I applied my british citizenship on would stand invalid?
May I also ask, do we need to submit physical passports during our biometric,unlike ilr where we submitted soft copies of all the passport?
As this could change my plans of getting a new passport in Dec .

It doesn't matter if you renew your passport. You dont even need a valid passport to apply for citizenship.
No originals are submitted. Passport at biometric is for identity check only, same as for ILR.

Hello Moderators,
I have new query around upcoming naturalization application.(sorry, wasnt sure if need to raise new query or not).
1. I have had a penalty from hmrc due to late filling in 2024,which I paid in full. I havent had any other penalties before or after that.
Do I need to declare this in my application?
2. My referree will digitally sign the declaration form, hope this is okay. Or does it need to be exact match to your original signature?
3. For living in UK proof, should I need to provide P60s for all 5 years or a council record will suffice.

It must look like their original signature. They can use a picture of their signature

May I ask, under which section should I declare about my hmrc late filling penalty.
Is it Conviction or other penalty Section and "A caution, warning, reprimand or other out-of-court penalty" option?
2. There is one more question which asks if hold any other citizenship. Do we need to declare our citizenship by birth here or any other nationality apart from by birth?

Yes, Other penalty section.

"Any citizenship, in addition to your birth citizenship. Any = all.
