Default status on credit report and Naturalisation

Hi

I am due to apply for Naturalisation in September. Unfortunately I have a Default mark on my credit report which has been settled and have satisfied status. There is no CCJ on the report. I got my credit reports from 2 different agencies. Experian & Equifax.

One report shows:
Defaulted on : 21/09/2004

Other Credit Agency report shows:
Sattisfied on: 21/09/2004

Now I have four questions:

1. Do they check credit report while naturalisation process?
2. Does the status Default effect the naturalisation application?
3. Should I mention this thing on application form?
4. Would the default status be removed automatically after 6 years on 21/09/2010. And if it is removed from the credit report should I still give detail on application form?

I would really appreciate any help on the above questions.

Many Thanks.

Before answering your question, where are you now? As a Moderator here I can see your IP address, and just wondering why you are asking your question from where you are?

I ask because your IP address indicates you are in Tulsa! Can I ask, and no need to name them, do you work for a "large oil company"?

I can assure you I don't spend all day looking at people's IP addresses but just yesterday on a different board someone posted basically exactly the same sort of query as you have posted today. So I wondered if the same person was posting the same sort of thing on two different boards, hence the IP check, which did not match with yesterday's query. But it did throw up another rather different query.

OK, as I posted yesterday on that other board, a default should not make any difference, but if the situation deteriorates further, and becomes a CCJ, that is a totally different matter.

So if an arrangement has not yet been made with the company concerned, suggest that is done promptly, to stop matters getting worse.

John,

I never posted anything on any other board. This is my first post on this board but I am a very old reader though.

Thanks a lot for the answers, Please could you put some light on questions 3 & 4.

Regards.

As regards your 3, there is no space on the form to mention a "mere" default.

As regards your 4, sorry I have no knowledge.
