Child Citizenship query

Hi all,
We are looking to start a family but the spouse feels it best if we the pregnancy was outside the UK.
- Is my child eligible for UK citizenship if born outside the UK and at the time of birth I am settled in the UK? (My wife does not have ILR or UK citizenship)
- How do i then register my child for citizenship? Will the baby be issued with a UK passport or will it be attested on my passport?

Indian.
Tier 1 Migrant (WP + T1 = 5yrs)
and hoping to apply for (& get) ILR next month.

If the child is born outside UK before you get ILR=nothing
If the child is born ouside UK after you get ILR=registeration at discretion(no guarantee of success)
If the child is born in UK before you get ILR=registeration as british citizen(after you get ILR)
If the child is born in UK after you get ILR=british by birth, just apply for british passport

In fact if child is born outside UK:
- child needs to be sponsored for settlement; and
- child can be registered British at the same time one parent becomes a citizen.

Sorry mate, we have told you straight short cut answers, you can go through 100s of pages of info and still not work out what we are talking about.
Plus we just havent made all this up ourselves. If you are in doubt, contact an immigration advisor. By the way, not all immigration advisors are well clued up on nationality matters. Few days ago, I seen a immigration advisor on a live tv show, who gave totally wrong advice about nationality to 3 callers.

I agree, if you need to be sure, do the research yourself....
