Hi,
for compassionate reason (serious illness of my mum), I spent more than
100 days outside the UK during the final year.

I wonder whether I should apply. While the absences in the final year is less
then 180 and altogether I was absent for less than 450 days,
I wonder what are my chances.

I would appreciate comments from members with a similar circumstances.

Another question:
If I decide to apply, which documents should I bring to support my application ?

I know how to prepare my application.

My question about the documents meant which special/further documents
should I provide to justify my long absence and to increase my chances
for a succesful application given the special circumstances.

Documents that certify that your presence in home country was necessary / mandatory for your mother to undergo adequate medical treatment or that your presence was necessary as you / your mother had no one else to take care of her in the hour of need.

Please note that what you perceive as exceptional circumstances may be viewed as emotional / cultural reasons rather than exceptional compassionate circumstances by caseworker / UKBA.

I thought that assisting a cancer patient goes under a compassionate reason ... or not ?
Actually, they don't explain what do they mean by compassionate reasons.
Anyone here knows ?

i dont think anybody suggested that it doesnt go under compassionate reason.
it is information supporting this that you need to supply eg medical records and i guess explanation as i why you had to stay with her, as Sushdmehta has already said
