Hello,
i just wanted to find a way to solve my issue. In my current travel document, the Names ( Surname & othername ) are written in a way which is not correct / the same way as being used in UK.

My Name is "A" & my Dad's Name is "B". As per my understanding , According to UK's standard Surname is "A" & given name is "B".

But In my current passport this written in other way around. which is Surname "B" and given name "A".

Im in a position to apply for the british passport & would like to change it accordingly. how can i do this ? Do i have to chnage it on my current passport ? Or just write a letter to UKBA with my Birth certificate and request it to change it ?

Any advise please.

Regards

In general,
Surname = family name / surname used by your father / grandfather / great-grand father etc..
Name = First name given to you by your parents, as recorded in your birth certificate.
Middle name = Any word(s) that come in between the name and surname.

e.g. - A person named Stephen Joyce Hamilton has Stephen as the first name, Joyce as the middle name and Hamilton as the surname.

Do appreciate that in certain countries / communities / cultures the naming conventions differ from the norm. Or that an individual may decide to not use his / her surname at all. In such cases. it is for the individual to decide the sequence of his/her full name name accordingly - for the purpose of official documentation and identity.
