Dear Friends,
I got my ILR about 10 months ago and recently quit my Indian employer. I am looking out for job now.
But my Indian employer is asking me to submit the original Work Permit they had got processed.
I checked the form AN and the guide and nowhere it asked for the work permit document. However I still have doubt if anyone was in similar situation and if they were required to provide the work permit documents while applying for citizenship.
Your expert views on this would greatly help me.
thanks,
Barua

What do they mean by 'submit Work Permit' ?
They cannot ask for your original passport, that would be illegal. You have your work permit and ILR stickers on your passport and once you clear the requirements to qualify for naturalisation, all you need is your original passport with the visa stickers (along with other supporting documentation mentioned on the app form and UKBA website).
You might have received a letter from the Home Office when you got your ILR. Take that with you to the NCS or send that if you plan to apply by post. You do not need to carry any work permit documentation as that was already checked and cleared before you received your ILR.

Thanks Krazydude. What i meant is the work permit letter we get initially not the passport ofcourse. I had to sent that to them, they said they have to legally inform that once a person leaves the comp who has work permit. As you said all that is checked while PR and shouldn't be required. But just to be safer I thought I'll checkw ith experts here.
thanks for your help again.

Not sure why they need the letter either, if you do send them the letter, make sure you keep a copy of it for your own records. Actually you may want to send them a copy and keep the original. But either way make sure you have the original or the copy for yourself.
