Will Legal Notice affect BC?

Hi All,
Received a letter from thames water stating that I have a water leak in my property and I should fix them in 6 weeks time. Failing to fix it, they will send me a legal notice and send their staff to fix it and charge the amount in my bill.
Given the current weather conditions, I am not sure if we can find an authorized plumber and fix the leak. Besides this we are also going for a vacation in 2 weeks time and not sure if the fix can be done within the given 6 weeks time.
The question is : If thames water issues me a legal notice to fix the water leak, will it affect my BC good character requirement? I am due to apply for BC in April 2011.
Any help will be appreciated.
