We got ILR 2 years ago and are definitely qualifying to be naturalized as British Citizen. However because my country not allow dual natinality, we will not apply for naturalization at the moment. Is it possible to register my children (they were not born in the UK) as British citizen if we parents not naturalized?

No (9.17.9).

You may, however, apply for child's registration at the same time as either parent is applying for naturalisation. But not before.

Hi Sushma,

I am falling in the same category and have similar question. I dont want to apply for Nauralisation but want my CHILD to get NATURALISED. Why cant I do that? There must be process at descretion to get NATURALISATION for the child.... isnt it?

Thanks in advance

atul.ruparelia, children do not apply for Naturalisation, they apply for Registration as British. As already explained it will not be possible for your children to be Registered as British, in the absence of your Naturalisation.

However, when your child is an ex-child, that is they have become an adult at the age of 18 years, there is nothing to stop them applying for their own Naturalisation, as long as they first pass the Life in the UK test, and pass all the usual tests, in particular the 5-year rule.
