Naturalisation - help on specific question!

Hi,

I am applying for my naturalisation and wanted to check something about a specific question on the application form.

Question 2.1 of the application form says - Date and place of first arrival in the United Kingdom (see page 7 of the Guide).

The guidance states - Enter the day you first arrived with a view to staying in the UK on a long-term basis, and the airport or seaport through which you then entered.

I orginally came to the UK as a student in 2000
In 2005, I got a job on the basis of a work permit
In 2010, I got my ILR after 5 years on a work permit

I wanted to check which date I should use for this question as I was advised by someone that it should be when I came to the UK for the very first time as a student.
I don't think that is correct as the guidance states ' with a view to staying in the UK on a long-term basis'.
I went back home during holidays etc as a student but not immediately before I got my work permit so I don't have a convenient date which I could use in 2005. So I'm confused about what I should put as my response.

I would be grateful for any thoughts/ insights.

Thanks

The right date would be when you first entered UK as a student, as indeed you have stayed on since then.
Do not worry about this too much, as your other information will feature in the form anyway.
Best wishes
