Problem filling in passport application

I was born in the UK before 1983 from Spanish parents and have a British full birth certificate that shows my father's profession (non-diplomat).
According to the Nationality Act of 1981, I'm a British Citizen as my parents were non-diplomats and can therefore apply for a British passport. I even had one that expired on 2005 and I unfortunately lost. The application form was straight forward.
On applying online, the application asks for the nationality of both parents and as they're not British, it says my application was unsuccessful because my parents are not British. Tried to fill in the printed form but I find myself stuck in the same section.
What shall I do? Fill it in and ignore the section of my parents, enclose my birth certificate and see what happens? Why do these forms ignore British citizens by birth in the UK before 1983? I see my rights hurt here.

where are you living currently? If outside of UK, can you visit your nearest British Consulate? or within the UK, you can just fill out the form by hand.
Could you give us the link to the website?

My understanding is that those applying outside the UK should use one of the following forms:
http://centralcontent.fco.gov.uk/centra ... smart-form
http://centralcontent.fco.gov.uk/resour ... orm-c1.pdf
The respective guidance notes are located at the following URLs:

You are correct. The online application is not well designed if your parents or grandparents are not British. Just pop into the post office and ask for the passport application form (the form is free).
Anyway it is quicker to do it by hand. Even if you apply online, the online form is then printed and posted to your address to sign it. Just saves you to fill the other sections of the application by hand.
