You never know with this government, recently they are announcing new laws and changes every other month only giving few weeks warning in advance. They might come up with some thing new instead of earn citizenship.

They haven't been scrapped. They've been set aside for the time being and could be implemented if the Government so choose later on. However, there are no changes expected for as early as July.

Government announcement on settlement reforms wrote:The Home Secretary has outlined the government's approach to reform of the settlement rules, including a decision not to pursue the 'earned citizenship' policy.

Earned citizenship concerned the path to settlement and British citizenship, and was planned to come into force in July 2011. It will now not be introduced.

riz20112011 - I see you are not missing any opportunity to stress yourself.
The government is now preoccupied in reducing people with ILR. For sure, nothing will happen with naturalization until July and probably much after.

I meant of course reducing the people who can apply for ILR.
Once you have ILR i.e. settelement that's it from their point of view as you can settle indefinitely in the country with or without evetually being a citizen.
