Applying for naturalisation as an unemployed.

Hello,

I am married to a British woman, have ILR and am planning to apply for naturalisation on June 2011.

Both my wife and me are unemployed, but have enough money to support ourselves.

In the section 3 of the naturalisation application(good character requirement), the first few questions regard to my employment and occupation. I am not sure what should I put down.
There is no "unemployed" option in question number 3.2.

Does that mean that I cannot submit the application while unemployed?

In addition, from your experience, would unemployment status affect the application?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards and thanks for your help,

Mike

You have no problem. Apply when you are time-qualified.

An applicant for Naturalisation need never have worked in the UK, for example, they might have been a housewife (or househusband) since arriving in the UK. Not a problem.

Thanks for your quick reply John !

But what should I put in the application ? there is no unemployed box to tick.
Do I need to ignore this section ?

Best wishes

Mike

I would say :-

Q3.1 :- Write .... Currently unemployed
Q3.2, Q3.3 & Q3.4, write :- N/A
Q3.5 :- Write the tax reference relating to your latest employment.
