I was born outside the uk in 1980 in a commonwealth country, never get to see my father who resides in the uk till 2003. Now this is my story.

My father was born in a commonwealth country in late 50's and moved to the uk in the late 60's to be with his parents who had indefinite leave to remain and siblings been born british. HE went to college in the uk and his parents left the uk in the early 70's without him. He has never left the uk till 2003. HE got his british citizenship in 2002 and i guess that is "otherwise than by descent".

Do i qualify for a british citizenship?, obviously am over 18.

when I was looking into my kids passports for dual citizenship, parents' citizenship needed to be by descent. I doubt it you are eligible, but hopefully someone with more knowledge will post. Good luck!
