Hi

I am a british citizen. I have a child that was born in pakistan, he came to the uk on a pakistani passport on a settlement visa. I want to apply for a british passport for my child, i was wondering if i had to register him as a british citizen before i apply for the passport.

When was your child born?
Were you British otherwise than by descent at the time of your child's birth?
Are you the father or mother?

I am the father and my son was born in 2006
I was born in pakistan and my father was a british citizen at that time, i presume that makes me a british citizen by decent and thus i can not pass my nationality on to the child.
