Hi Forum team,

Appreciate your response immediately :

I am permanent resident of UK with my child,My husband has been working abroad since 2 yrs and does not have a visa to UK(becuase of work commitments abroad he could not come to UK to apply for PR when he was due -we have been visiting him abroad) (My husband was living in UK between Sept 2006 to Jan 2010 on DEPENDANT VISA and after which he went abroad for work)

My question is I am applying for british citizenship now(as i am eligible ),Can i apply for British citizenship for my 2child(who is on a PR and was born in UK) as well(considering her father is living abroad and does not have VISA to the UK) ? If YES what documents should i substantiate the MN1 Application form with ?

Also in the MN1 form it asks for the date when the father got his PR,in this case can i leave this field BLANK

Thanks
Reshma

If you attained PR after your child was born, then yes. Else, no (child automatically British).

Many thanks for clarifying this Vinny,Kindly help me with the below 2 questions :

1. In the MN1 form it asks for the date when the father got his PR,in this case can i leave this field BLANK ,is that right please ?

2. Should i get some letter from my husband that he is happy for the child to apply for citizenship or if the father signs on the MN1 form that is sufficient proof enough

Thank you
Reshma

OK to leave blank. At least one parent needs to have ILR so if you got it, that's enough.
2. Should i get some letter from my husband that he is happy for the child to apply for citizenship or if the father signs on the MN1 form that is sufficient proof enough

He needs to sign in section 6 giving consent for the child to apply for British citizenship.

On the MN1 form the 1st question is to state the Section British Nationality act under which we would want the application to be based
I am applying for my daughter's citizenship, she is 20months old and born in UK,am i right that i mentioned it as "Section 1(3)" (i have read the MN1 guide and still unsure if the section should be "Section 3(1)")

Appreciate your quick response
Section 1(3).

MN1 : Urgent response awaited
