british nationality need help please..

Hello,
I will apply for british nationality in a 4 months later , I have a UK residency but my country origin passport will expire before applying for british nationality , I would like to know please if i can apply for british nationality with an expire passport because i contacted my country origin consulate and they said to renew a passport will take months and months to have it .
