This forum is incredible and wanted to thank you all for sensible information. I have a query I am sure you can help. I was granted ILR based on JR with backdated letter. Here is my case

Date of entry to UK as student: 10/2004
Date of HSMP visa: 09/2006 (extended based on JR on 08/2008 - 3yrs)
ILR granted: 08/2011

Even though i fall under "after may & pre nov" JR I was granted ILR backdated to 09/2010 clrealy mentioned in the letter even though visa stamp shows 08/2011.

My question is I can apply for naturalisation any time but what is my residential qualifying period. As standard requirements under UKBA site has the below sentence which I am little confused

" If you have spent time in the UK while you were exempt from immigration control, you cannot include this time as part of the residential qualifying period" - http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/briti ... uirements/

Please advise and thank you again.
