Phoning the ukba for status for British Citizen application

Hi, is there anyone who has tried to contact the UKBA to ask about the status of their application and got through. I keep phoning the number and no one ever picks up

I rang them about 2 and a half months in because I needed my reference number - I was advised my application was in final stages. It did take a while to get though.

Thanks Cherryplum,did you call on the same number that is on the UKBA website ?
Eligibility criteria : 5 Years Work Permit route /ILR \then applied through marriage toa BC
Method of application: NCS Bolton
Date of application: 13/01/2012
Date of receipt by UKBA: /16/2012
Date of debit of fees: 18/01/2012
Date of receipt of acknowledgement: 22/03/2012
Date of receipt of approval: 02/04/2012 dated 26/03/2012
Date of Ceremony: 11/04/2012
this forum has been very useful, I called the UKBA on 29/04/2012 and the lady said that nothing had been posted to me yet. Thereafter on Monday 02/04/2012 my wife called me at work to tell me about the excellent news. I then phoned the council who were happy to carry out a private ceremony on the date above

Yes I used the number published - pressed 2 then 2 again. The main thing is just be patient, it will come.
