arrghhh!!!!!!! Cant pay by VISA debit card?? is this true??

Post by imranh » Wed Jan 16, 2013 4:56 pm

Hi Everyone

I have just realised from the SET(M) form - "Payment Guidance" section that for debit cards they only accept Debit card - Delta, Maestro (including Solo)
and not VISA debit cards !!!

This is very strange as most debit cards now are VISA ones !!!!! Surely this cannot be true??????

We have an appointment in Liverpool next week so what shall I do??

It seems cheque/postal order are my only options as I don't have credit cards

Many Thanks
Kind Regards

You are paying with visa card, which covers both credit and debt cards.

Q 8: Which card are you using for payment?

Tick: Visa /
Electron

Pretty Simple.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I understand what you are saying and of course your answer is more convenient for me but it states on the payment guidance section

How can you pay?
You must pay by one of the methods specified below.
• Cheque
• Postal Order
• Credit card1 - Visa (including Electron), MasterCard
or American Express (Amex)
• Debit card - Delta, Maestro* (including Solo)
• Banker’s draft (payable to the Home Office)

That is what has got me confused !!!

I paid through the same method, not a problem at all.

Q 6: Select, Debt/Credit Card & Q8: Visa/Electron(it automatically means Visa Debt).

When they ring it through the Card Machine, it will automatically detect it as VISA DEBT card.

If you are still confused, use an alternative method.

Call HO tomorrow and confirm the above.

See this from NatWest

When trying to pay for goods on-line the website has no Visa Debit option, how do I use my card?

We are aware that a number of retailers do not appear to have a drop-down option for Visa Debit; unfortunately we are not able to control what options retailers have on their websites. You should look out for a Visa Electron or Visa Delta option, if neither of these are available look for the Visa option, by doing this should allow the payment to be processed. If you do however experience difficulty please let us know.

Don't make multiple payments.

They might keep both, you'll go nuts claiming it back....:D

Visa Debit card used to be known as Delta.

The form is hopelessly outdated Solo also hasn't existed for years now.
Do not send me PM's with specific questions - post question in the open forum so others can also benefit from the answers.
