Set (m) for my wife and certified copy of passport

Hi guys,

I will apply in person for my wife ILR and I would like to know what's the best office which could deal with self employed cases as i will travel abroad straight after the appointment and I can't afford to leave my passport there for couple of weeks if they decide to do further inquires as usual for the self employed applications.

Also as alternative option , can I give them a certified copy of my passport and I will let the council check my wife application beforehand so, they may be able to give me a certified copy of my passport?
