ILR Form - 6.1 - First Entry to UK

Post by nachieket » Tue Oct 22, 2013 5:29 pm

Hi All,

Hope everyone is well. I'll be very shortly going to Home Office with my ILR Application. I just have a quick question. In ILR Application form, 6.1, below is mentioned:

'When did you (the main applicant) first enter the UK? This refers to the date of your first entry into the UK at the beginning of the period of stay on which this application is based.'

I got my Entry Clearance on 19 Nov 2008 and entered in UK on 4 Feb 2009. That was my first ever entry to UK. So as per my understanding, I need to mention 04-02-2009 in 6.1. But my Solicitor has mentioned 19-11-2008 and when I talked to him about the same he said that the Entry Clearance date must be mentioned. But the clear english above says that I need to mention the date when I first entered UK.

Could someone please confirm if what solicitor has mentioned is correct or am I correct in mentioning 04-02-2009?

Thanks,
N

I think you must put first entry date: 04-02-2009 and count your eligibility from 19-11-2008 (as you entered with 90 days and your delay will be counted in eligibility period). Hope this makes clear.

Hi,

Yeah that's what I think mate. I need to put in 04-02-2009. I have no clue why such a reputed and experienced solicitor is making a mistake here.

Can anybody else confirm the same as well please? I just want to gain some more confidence.

Regards,
N
