Calculating time lived in the UK

Post by pichon » Fri Apr 11, 2014 11:53 pm

Hello, I hope anyone who has knowledge on this can shed light on it for me.
I am applying for ILR SET(M) next month after living on a spouse visa FLR(M) for two years, and I have a question regarding the question, How long have you lived in the UK?

I first entered the UK in Sep 2006 to do a master's degree and went back to my country in Nov. 2007 (1 year 2 months, student visa).
A year later, I came back to do my second MSc and then PhD, so I have been living in the UK continuously since Oct. 2008 until now. (5 years 7 months, student visa for 3 yrs 7 mths, and flr(m) for 2 yrs))

From my search of the forum, I gather that I need to declare all the periods I lived in the UK, so it is my understanding that I will have declare both of these two periods.

But I still have one unresolved issue.

Do I say 7 years and 8 months, covering the whole period from Sep 2006 to May 2014, and declare the missing 11 months in the section below? Or Do I say 6 years and 9 months, the combined total of the actual period I lived in, and write down the absence period of 11 months separately?

Your insight would be very much appreciated. Thanks a lot.
