Tier 4 -> Tier 2 -> ILR Route (5 years route)

Post by Simurgh » Mon Mar 19, 2018 7:52 am

Hi,

Would much appreciate some help with this.

I've studied in the UK since 2009 till 2013 on Tier 4 visa. After I finished my PhD I started to work as a postdoc on Tier 2 (general). I started to work on June/2013 but was still on Tier 4. In October/2013 I switched to Tier 2.
I had two extensions of my Tier 2 since then and my current Tier 2 is valid until 2019.

Can I apply for the ILR on 5 years basis? Does it count from June or October 2013? Does it matter that I had two extensions of my Tier 2 (do I need to have copies of all visas)? My current contract is open-ended.

Thank you!

Yes, if you meet the requirements.
Does it count from June or October 2013?
It counts from the date your Tier 2 visa was granted/issued and not from when you started working for the sponsor.
Does it matter that I had two extensions of my Tier 2 (do I need to have copies of all visas)?
No.

Thx guys.

I got my first tier 2 in october 2013. So I guess I am eligible for ILR from october 2018?
I have a lot of small in-outs travels (2-5 days at the time). What if I cannot remember all of these - there is no way I am anywhere close of being 180 days out of the country in any 12 months.

You must be as accurate as possible. HO checks up on your travel history. Use your passports and perhaps do a Subject Access Request to HO.
