ILR confirmation?

Hi, I've applied for ILR, i sent my documents off at the beginning of the month, the royal mail says they have been collected but i have had no confirmation from the Visa people that they have received it or are processing it. are they supposed to send you an email? i just don't want to sit here thinking they have it in hand when its gone to the wrong place or has been lost or something?
