ILR for my wife

I got my ILR in July 08 on 10 years long residence category and they gave my wife 2 years which is coming to end this August when she will be eligible to apply for ILR.

Problem is last year July she submitted her Indian passport to the Indian embassy in London for name change and the embassy told her that her passport has been revoked by Bangalore passport office. It has been almost 9 months and indian embassy still hasn't given her passport back.

Her current visa will run out in August 11, I am worried that Indian embassy may not return her passport by then.

Could someone tell me what is the process if she doesn't have her original passport. When they gave her 2 years visa she received ID card.
