Hi everyone
My mother has been in UK for around 15 years now...she came as visitor then unlawful stay.....Last year her lawyer got her 2 yrs residence permit on 14 yrs Long stay rule...I dont know why he did not get her ILR...now 14 yrs rule is being terminated....my query is since her initial application has already been approved this change in law should not affect her or do we need to apply for her ilr asap before 9th july 2012 ?

Had the initial application for settlement been approved, she would have been granted settlement. That she was not granted settlement means that the application was not approved but was granted 2 year limited leave. The solicitor should be able to provide you with the details about why.

If you wish to, then apply before 09-Jul-12.
