help for counting absences for ILR

I am a work permit holder and 5 years visa will be expired Jan 2012. I am planning to apply ILR by that time. During these 5 years I only worked for one employer, a university, as lecturer. However, the absences during 5 years is 273 days which is more than 180 days limit. The absences are mostly 5-15 days business trips (one 20 days and one 34 days) which are as my duty of the employment. I only took 86 days paid annual leaves outside UK during these 5 years. Do you think I will be fine for the ILR application with the supportive letter from my line manager which will certify those short business trips are related to my job duties?
