Hello All,
Has anyone received their BRP card recently? What is the validity date on it? I have received mine and it has a validity of 10 Years? I have posted this on a previous thread and was unable to get a response if this is the case with the new BRP cards that are issued.
Please can someone confirm?
Regards.

Confirm if the validity of the ILR is 10 Years? and What happens after the expiry of the 10 yrs period, is it just the renewal of the card or the same process all over again?

It is renewal of BRP card. Its only BRP card that will have to be renewed and if you for for British Passport then anyways the BRP card is no longer used.

Thanks a lot, this question kept bothering me. If its only valid for 10yrs then how can it be called ILR..
Thanks again.

You did no read other members reply with due attention.
The "card" only expires, status does not. Like when the passport expires, you do not loose citizenship.

i am assuming its like UK Driving License like mine expire in 2022 , doest not mean i need to retake the test or infact like you debit card were once you reach the expire date you need to just apply for card rather than going throught whole process again

Yes, you will need to submit your biometrics at the time though. See previous response posted below.

It is not a 10 year permit. What it means is that BRP card that will be issued for your ILR will be valid for 10 years, after which you will need to enroll your biometrics again and get a new BRP (note this will only be required in the event you do not apply for naturalisation within that 10 year period). It's just like your driving licence which has an expiry date. You just apply for a new one at the time of expiry without having to pass the exam again.
