still not received an acknowledgement letter

hello all,
I have submitted my application though solicitor on 2 Oct 2012,
application fee debited from my account on 9 Oct 2012. according to my solicitor, they still do not hear anything about the acknowledgement letter from UKBA, i thought that is something usually issue when payment is taken?
