Could somebody please advise better solution for the below query for a baby who is going to have British citizenship in few months:

Is it better to apply Indian Passport and submit it to get OCI card once receiving British passport to avoid Visa charges whenever visiting India?, or is there any better alternative rather than applying for Indian passport and getting OCI card , like applying visiting visa for 10 years at once etc., please advise.

many thanks,

OCI is quite a lengthy process compared to the VISA thing.

How soon is the baby going to travel to India ?

Moreover, if you don't apply for the Indian passport you need to apply for PIO (Person of Indian Origin) card later and not the OCI.

One more thing to add here - since you said "baby who is going to have British citizenship in few months"

You have enough time to get the Indian passport. OCI is always cheap as its lifelong.

You can find more details about it by visiting the below URL,

http://www.immihelp.com/nri/pio-vs-oci.html

Though the URL is for US folks but more or less its the same for people in the UK.
