How do I choose the correct SOC code for WP ILR

I am getting close to the end of my 5 Year Work Permit and I want to apply for ILR.

I have been with the same employer in the same role for the entire 5 years.

How do I choose the SOC code?
Is it just up to my employer and myself to look at the codes and decide the most appropriate one?

Does UKBA check that the code matches my job?

The occupation listed on my work permit is Operations Support Controller.
I think the most appropriate SOC code is 2132 Software Professionals - Operations analyst. (based on job description as well as job title).

The minimum pay for this job is well below what I am paid, so no problem there.

Also look at the sticky for letter above, and amend the letter appropriately to clarify the apparent mismatch between your actual job title and the one corresponding to the SOC code you are selecting.

Hi wpilr_nov12, thanks for your reply.

Do you know what checks UKBA do in regards to the SOC code?

I have had a look at the sticky here:
http://www.immigrationboards.com/viewtopic.php?t=76413

Because I am not an exact match I use paragraph 3?

Does the NQF level have any bearing?

Thanks!

In my own case there was a mismatch between SOC job title and the job title on my WP. So the CW (it was in Solihull) read out the Job description listed for my SOC code, and asked me to confirm if that was accurate.

Also, my SOC code had 3 possible job titles, and added a bit of confusion to the situation.

I don't think the NQF levels are relevant for WP, or at your level of profession/qualification.
