Please help: is ILR after EEA possible?

Hello
Please help as this the 3rd same topic without answer.
I've got few questions and would appreciate if someone could assit me with the following situation.
I got married to an EU citizen for OVER 14 YEARS IN AFRICA, but it is only 2 YEARS ago that I have submitted my documents to the Home Office and I have got a 5 years visa that will expired in 3 years time. I am working and I do not depend on anyone.
question1: Would it be BETTER to apply NOW for an ILR although I have got a 5 years EEA to make it EASIER to get the British passport after my visa expire?
question2: If a SEPARATION occurs before the end of my 5 years, what will be my SITUATION in the UK?
question3: What would be my options to REMAIN LEGAL in the UK AFTER a SEPARATION?
Hope to hear from you soon.
Many Thanks.
