Hi,

As per new rule:
No more than 180 whole days absence are allowed in any of the five, two, three or four consecutive 12 month periods, preceding the date of the application for indefinite leave to remain (ILR).

Does this mean, 180 whole days in every 12 consecutive months or 180 whole days in overall 5 years.

I was absence for almost 170 days (July11-Jan12) , do I need to provide any reason for my absence.

Appreciate any help.

Thanks

It says 180 days in any of the 5 consecutive years preceding the date of ILR application. Work out your 5 years from the date you are planning apply. it may be possible the absences be split in 2 years. Reg documents it depends on which Visa you are on.
