Dear Experts ,

First of all Thank you for taking time to read my immigration and tax related questions.

I originally applied HSMP in 2009. Last year i extended my Tier 1 general visa using both employment and self employment earnings. Now i have come to a position where i have to do my self assessment for HMRC. Also i understand that if i do not pay the tax, HO will refuse my coming ILR. For the extension I only wanted 20 points from previous earnings section, however at that time when i deducted the expenses from the gross income which ended up giving me 25 points as a total of employment and self employment income. Which i showed home office in the Profit and Loss Acc. I applied renewal in January 2012. After that 3 months i bought some equipments to the business and other standard expenses went up in the next 3 months. My question is,

If i pay tax for 23K as a total of emp and self emp, will i have a problem when applying for ILR since i declared 26K for home office and not paying tax for 26K?

Thank you very much and all your inputs will be highly appreciated. Once again thank you for taking time on my immigration matter.

Good Luck everyone

Hi Mate,

Can I ask you the following questions:

1) Did you apply by post or PEO when you extended your Teir1? If PEO, which PEO did you apply to?

2) Did you use a registered account to prepare your annual self employement books at the time you extended?

3) Where you registered as self employed to HMRC at the time you extended, using salaried + self employed income?

Let me know these details then I can shed some advise around your situation
