How long is the ESOL course duration for......the one needed for ILR purposes.......and there are quiet a few courses and not sure which one needs to be done. Please help.

The course needs to be on the UKBA list of approved providers. Regarding duration...bear in mind that you will need to show you've progressed from one level to the next. If your level of English is Grade 3 or above you should take the Life in the UK test instead.

Thanks for the reply.......as my husband is applying for ILR around end of Oct 13 start of Nov 2013......he needs to pass a LITUK test as well as an english course at B1 level or similar which apparently isnt an ESOL course.......we are so confused with all these changes in the rule. Could someone please give us precise advise on what tests and courses need to be done. Please.

Also as my husband had overstayed his student visa before he got the spouse visa, does that mean he wont be able to get the ILR or how would the overstay affect the ILR application. Thanks.

This is from the statement of intent on the new regulations:
Applicants for settlement currently required to take the Life in the UK test will from
October 2013 be required additionally to present an English language speaking and
listening qualification at B1 level or above.

As your husband was granted a spouse visa after his overstay, this shouldn't affect the ILR application.

Thank you again Casa.......also we are planning on travelling abroad for holidays for about 10-15 days........do we need to account these days into the 2year qualifying period for ILR....???.....also would we have to show eveidence later on in our application while applying for ILR.

The time you're away on holiday doesn't need to be counted for ILR. Enjoy it.

Can somebody just explain to me, do i need to past ESOL level 3 for naturalization, or its only for settelment? Im goin to apply for Naturalization in 2014.
