I have got indefinite leave to remain (ILR), I want to visit France but I am not sure whether I need a visa or Biometric residential permit (BRP) is enough. Please help. thanks

If your current passport requires a visa to visit any country other than UK, then you will need to get visa even after ILR.

You need your BRP card to enter the UK again. And yes u need to apply for schnegan visa at your nearest French consulate to enter France
