ILR and Tier one extension

I am also august applicant (done biometric). My visa is expiring on 23rd Feb. I am eligible for Tier 1 extension but all my documents are with UKBA ILR.
Do you guys think, I should have any backup plans like apply for Tier 1 extension via post etc.
Any thoughts would be helpful. Just want to make sure I keep all my options open rather realising later I could have done this or that.
