Hi, my partner received his right to remain a couple of years ago, he wants to apply for his British passport this year but 14 month ago received a fixed penalty for no insurance (he did have insurance, but was helping a friend out delivering food from his takeaway and police said he should of had business insurance) he was treated as if he did not have any insurance at all, he received a £200 fine and 6 penalty points, he did not have to attend court. As he had not had his driving license for more than 2 years he also had to retake his driving and theory test again. Does anyone know if this will affect his application for a British passport, We have looked this up quite a lot but still unsure. Thanks in advance, any advice welcome. Karen

Does it say on the counterpart of your driving licence? Does it FPN below the offence? If it is then you will be fine, if no court has been involved.

If you apply through NCS they normally filter your application as well.
I would still recommend you write a cover letter to explain what exactly happened so that you can prove that it is not denting your good character. FPN are considered as bad character
