Hi..

I came to UK on Work Permit (1.5 years) and then shifted to Tier 1 (3.5 years).

I have been out of UK for a total of 39 days while on work permit (16+7+16 - family visit/holidays). These all were paid annual leaves.

In the total of 5 years, I have out of UK for 83 days.. (family visits/holidays).

As per the new rules, do i still need to get a letter from my employer ?(with whom I worked on Work Permit)

Yes you have to get that letter from your W.P letter. There are instances where CW has been insisting on that letter. Hope there are no problems in getting that letter!

Hi Sheraz
The link is not very clear. It would be of great help if you could answer my specific query as per your understanding / experience

According to the rules, yes. But there are experiences here (including mine earlier this year) where the letter has not been requested on the day. It is however always best to be prepared with the letter, to provide in the event it is requested.

thanks for your response.... it really seems like a challenge to ask the previous employer to issue any such letter.. (for the year 2008-09).. can only hope they help...:)
