My wife is applying for ILR in August , I want to take Paternity leave in july when baby is born, she is on old rules before july 12. My payslip will show a lesser amount because of time off I dont think the calculation of payslips applies under old rules? My wife is self emplyed but will not claim any funds maternity leave which I think she is not entitled to anyway.

You'll be fine as long as your income isn't too low say at least £450 PCM. I assume you're a bc or settled? If so you claim the child benefit and tax credits when the Baby is born.

Yes british born I would of liked a whole month but I think its only £120 a week for Paternity pay? So two will be ok. I wasn't going to claim child benefit or tax credit until she hopefully gets her Ilr, but I think I will its my right!
