Question 6.1 Immigration History Clarification

Hello Everyone,
I entered the country in 2006 on WP and then moved on to HSMP in 2007.
The question 6.1 is stated as "When did you (the main applicant) first enter the UK? This
refers to the date of your first entry into the UK at the beginning
of the period of stay on which this application is based.".
a) Do I need to answer my first date of entry to UK i.e. of 2006 Or Is it my first date of entry before the begining of my qualifying period i.e. just before 5 years from the date of my application which would be some date in 2008?
