Employer letter - Absences from UK

Hi all,

I understand this question may have already been asked and answered on numerous occassions but I just could not find that thread.

I will be completing 5 years stay on a Tier 1 General visa in a couple of weeks time and would be applying for ILR.

I have been outside of UK for around 70 days in the last 5 years for personal visits back home in India. Do I need a letter from my employer mentioning these holidays? They were annual holidays and nothing to do with work.

Also, is the absences period applicable to my wife and kid? They have been residing in the UK for 4 years, with around 7 months outside UK.

Many thanks in advance and apologies for repetitive questions.

Regards,

Hi Leicester Boy,

If your employer is in a position to certify this, just take it in case. But as I understand, it is not mandatory to provide absence letter for Tier 1 but it is compulsory for Tier 2 and WP Settlements.

Format of the letter can be found using the sticky at:

All the best!
