Hi,
I was unemployed for a short while 3 years ago under Tier 1(General). I did spend almost all of that time searching for job while living in the UK. Later I got a job and also got my Tier 1(General) extended.

Does being unemployed affect my ILR application in any way?

well you don't need to be in employment all the time if you are on tier 1 (general). As long as you have enough points when you apply for extension/settlement you are absolutely fine.
